Ingrid de Vries (1972) worked for a chemical company at the decision support and control department, after graduating at Erasmus University Rotterdam (EUR). In between calculating cost prices, she launched a waste management project. She often found herself at the wastewater treatment plant, talking with the operator about how the bacteria were “eating” the chemical waste.
In 2001, she returned to Erasmus University as an assistant professor, focusing on how control tools could be used for creating shared value. She started up the Greening the Campus initiative in 2005 and worked for the Dutch Institute for Sustainability Transitions (DRIFT). Since 2008, Ingrid has worked at HZ University of Applied Sciences (UAS) in the province of Zeeland on circular economy and social innovation. Ingrid is associated with MNEXT and is a project leader of the HZ Green Office, and is active in Rights of the Scheldt.
