Léon Gross is an urban designer, artist, educator, and sustainability researcher working at the intersection of water, ecology, and spatial justice. His practice combines artistic research with questions of urban transformation, participatory knowledge production, and more-than-human relationships. As co-lead of the Berlin-based design and research studio Symbiotic Lab, he develops transdisciplinary projects on urban waters, ecological infrastructures, and regenerative futures. His work moves between art, research, spatial practice, and public engagement, exploring how rivers and ecosystems can become cultural and political actors within processes of urban change. Léon is co-curator of the Confluence of European Water Bodies 2026 in Berlin, hosted by the Spree and its watershed. He is also part of the River Collective, engaged in initiatives around the Rights of Nature and the “Rights for the Spree”, teaches at universities, and facilitates workshops on more-than-human urbanism, participatory ecological practice, and water-based futures.
