Gert-Jan Stam has a background in visual arts and theatre and is currently mostly interested in ‘multispecies cocreation’. He is co-founder of the transdisciplinary arts collective TAAT. Their practice is rooted in the interplay between architecture and theatre, which has evolved to creating ecosystems of encounter, shifting between artistic research, social practice and regenerative learning. As a playwright Gert-Jan was part of the Forum of Young European Playwrights and his DIY-theatre play “OK OK”, a collaboration with Ant Hampton, was performed internationally and translated into a.o. German, Czech, Arabic, Chinese and Japanese. As an ‘encounter architect’ he designed participatory installations for a.o. the Humboldt Forum, Stiftung Berliner Mauer, and Stadtmuseum Berlin. Gert-Jan lives and works in Berlin, Germany.
